Latest Updates on Indonesia Visa Regulations Effective from 31 December 2023

Major Changes in Indonesia’s Visa Regulations Effective from December 31, 2023

Indonesia gears up for a significant overhaul in its visa regulations, set to take effect from December 31, 2024, reflecting the nation’s commitment to accommodating expatriates’ evolving needs. The latest adjustments, outlined in Peraturan Menteri Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia Nomor 22 Tahun 2023, introduce pivotal alterations across various visa categories.

Golden Visa Introduction & Key Updates

A notable highlight is the unveiling of the Golden Visa, a gateway for foreigners to attain special status in Indonesia. This initiative aims to stimulate investments and tourism in the country, providing exclusive privileges to eligible individuals.

The threshold for Investor KITAS has been revised, requiring a minimum investment of 10 billion IDR for one-year validity. Simultaneously, a provision now permits Investors to acquire a Working KITAS, broadening avenues for foreign professionals. These changes further encompass the conversion of B211 to Investor KITAS, demanding proof of investments exceeding 10 billion IDR.

Retirement KITAS and Second Home Visa Modifications

For Retirement KITAS, applicants must be 60 years old, showcasing income or pension proof equivalent to USD 3,000. Intriguingly, prerequisites such as travel agency permits and hiring Indonesian personnel are now obsolete.

The Second Home Visa stipulates maintaining funds in a state-owned bank or purchasing a condominium exceeding USD 1,000,000. These alterations aim to streamline processes and diversify residency options.

Additional Information and Procedural Changes

Notably, the requirement for SKTT (Foreign Worker Identification Number) has been abolished for several residence permit applications, allowing for a more streamlined process. Further adjustments encompass passport validity, travel document data updates, and continuity of ongoing applications under prior regulations until December 31, 2024.
